Details
This legendary Ford Gasser Resto-Mod is a masterpiece. It has a Fat Man chassis for a complete rectangular tube rolling chassis featuring a polished independent front end and 9' Ford rear end polished 4-link with antiroll bar and Carrera shocks. Also incorporated are 2' drop spindles to make this Ford Coupe handle like it is on rail. The GM Performance 502ci crate motor with GM crank, pistons, and aluminum heads combined with a Lunati stick sets the pace while a Hilborn intake capped with
matching multi-port EFI sucks plenty of air. A fast XFI engine management system tunes everything to perfection while an MSD ignition lights the fire and Hooker headers dump spent gasses through a Vrankin-fabbed custom 2-1/2' stainless-steel exhaust. For crisp shifts, an ATI Turbo TH400 automatic transmission coupled to a Gear Vendors overdrive unit spins power to the tarmac with a custom steel driveshaft. Stainless-steel 11' turbo slotted brake rotors with matching calipers were employed to haul this beast to a stop. Sticking the chassis to the road is the 17' front and 18' rear Colorado Custom Empire wheels wrapped with Goodyear Eagle tires. This beautiful body was channeled 3', door bottoms were extended 1', rear wheel wells were extended 2-1/2', door edges were rounded and the firewall was recessed. Additional custom work included a one-piece windshield, Mercedes-Benz headlights, frenched taillights, shaved door handles and bumpers. Interior details include modification of the stock dash to incorporate a Vintage Air system, Classic Instruments dials and the Colorado Custom steering wheel to match the one-of-a-kind Colorado Custom wheels. A full tan hide custom leather interior is added with a square-weave carpet both complementing the veneered burl wood dash and automatic transmission, which is disguised to look like the original 3-speed manual. A custom remote operates the 6-CD changer and the trunk is operated by an electric motor. The gas filler is brought up through the custom-carpeted and leather-finished trunk. This '40 Ford Gasser custom was the star of the May 2008 Street Rodder magazine issue and then stole the show in the March 2012 Street Rodder issue when it was finished three-and-a-half years later. This is a very fine Resto-Mod. It has had numerous first-place trophies.
