Details
This fully functional 1' scale model of a 464 steam engine and tender. Both were handcrafted by Daniel Boone VI. Every part was completely hand-forged. He began the project in 1932 and was not completed until 1937 at an undetermined cost. It served as a ride at the Booneville Shop in Spruce Pine, North Carolina many years ago. It is a 290-pound reproduction of a 464 type steam locomotive. This train runs off of steam, which is produced from burning coal, wood or it can run off compressed air. Daniel Boone VI had to be one of the first model railroaders and this has to be one of the first 1' scale working models ever made. This train has been featured in several magazines such as 'Collier's' circa 1952, 'Popular Mechanics' circa 1952, 'Time,' 'National Geographic' circa 1958, and many others. This handmade train is a museum piece which several museums have been interested in having in their collections. **SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE**
