Description
Summary
The flat radiator shell 1931 model 8-30 Flying Cloud was introduced in September 1930. Sleek and splendid, free flowing from its low, shapely radiator to the final inch of its graceful sweep of the rear deck is how the 8-30 was described.
Details
The 1931 REO Flying Cloud 8-30 is a rumble seat coupe with wood spoked wheels and demountable rims and rear mounted spare. The car looks fast on the road or in city traffic. The quiet flow of power from the 125hp REO built 8 cylinder engine through the exclusive 'silent second' transmission furnished convincing evidence that the looks are in no way deceiving, that performance equals appearance. This is how the car was advertised in 1931. The car is in excellent condition inside and out. The
seats are hand needle pointed and in excellent condition. The car was on loan to the Tennessee Museum of Aviation by its previous owner and was displayed and advertised as believed to have been built exclusively for Amelia Earhart. This is a very rare car. The REO Club of America states this is the only 1931 REO 8-30 Flying Cloud coupe they know of in existence.
