1918 Paige Six-55 Series 4 door touring Essex limousine. This rare automobile was previously owned by Illinios Congressman Ken Gray and once carried John F. Kennedy as a passenger. This car sat in Illinois Congressman's Ken Grays presidential museum for 40 years. He also has a Interstate named after him in Illinois. We have a signed letter on official letterhead from Kenneth J. Gray that President John F. Kennedy rode in this car November 22, 1960 in Harrisburg, Illinois. The story goes
President John F Kennedy, Governor Kerner, U.S. Congressman Ken Gray, Senator Douglas and Secretary of State Paul Powell rode in this car to the Harrisburg, Illinois Court House. We have a picture of the five of them at the Court House. The Trim Tag on the engine block states this car was manufactured on 11-13-1917. Included with the purchase comes the Paige-Detroit Reference book and Illinois personalized license plates. The License plates says Retired Congressman 'KGRAY.' The car also comes with an autographed book from Ken Gray which shows the car in his museum and a lifesize cut out of John Kennedy. The engine appears to be the original flathead inline 6 cylinder with 1 barrel carburetor. It has an electric fuel pump that was added. The engine runs strong and is attached to a 3-speed manual transmission with shifter on the floor. The manual choke has been replaced with a heat activated choke. The throttle is now on the floor but does operate. The manual choke pull is also still in the dash.
