A meticulous frame-off restoration was started in May 2011, and by June 2012 the restoration was completed. The car is powered by a special anniversary edition 427/430 all-aluminum engine #220 of 427 by GM Performance. Original ZL-1/L88 parts include the dome hood, aluminum radiator, front coil springs, NOS clear door glass, radio delete plate and special six-month-only seatbelts with shoulder harness. The car was also upgraded for improved performance, handling and stability by using an all-new M-22 4-speed transmission. The rear end has the HD axles, half shafts and U-joints needed to plant the power produced by this car. The J56 brakes were upgraded to Wilwood 4-piston caliper brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. The car also features F41 special-purpose suspension, upgraded Bilstein shocks and composite rear leaf spring. With a tilt, telescopic steering wheel. This car was built to look authentic throughout, with carefully thought-out modifications to improve performance, handling, safety and comfort.
