This is an original car. It's been housed in climate-controlled storage for the last 32 years. It is equipped with a 392 HEMI motor with an automatic transmission. The 1957 Chrysler 300C was the third of a ten-year production run of famous 'Letter Cars' that were the original muscle cars. A total of 484 convertibles were made this year. By 1957, the 300 Letter Cars had developed a real reputation by winning the flying mile at Daytona Beach and the AAA Stock Car Championship in 1956. The forward-look styling of 1957, with its dramatic fins, also had a larger 392ci HEMI engine as well as a sensational new suspension system with torsion bars. The 300 was based on the full-sized Chrysler hardtop with the addition of a leather interior, heavy-duty suspension, a powerful 375hp engine, a heavy-duty, 3-speed TorqueFlite transmission, unique styling with little ornamentation for its day and a dramatic grille opening whose shape has been carried within Chrysler Corporation to this day.
