Description

Summary

Professionally built custom powered by a supercharged LS9 427ci V8 engine backed by a TREMEC Tranzilla 6-speed manual transmission. Art Morrison front chassis with C6 Corvette suspension components.

Details

Featured in Super Chevy magazine, this professionally built custom 1966 Chevelle is powered by an LS9 427ci V8 engine built out with an Eaton supercharger, a cold-air intake, American Racing stainless-steel headers and a 3.5-inch stainless exhaust system with an X-pipe. An Auto Rad aluminum radiator keeps the mill cool. Power is handled by a TREMEC Tranzilla 6-speed manual transmission with McLeod clutch and pressure plate, and a Ford 9-inch rear end with 3.50 gears and 35-spline axle by Drivetrain Specialists. Handling is courtesy of QA1 coilovers at all four corners, 4-wheel power disc brakes with CPP booster, Wilwood calipers and vented rotors, power steering, Michelin low-profile tires, Billet Specialties wheels and an Art Morrison front clip with C6 Corvette suspension components. Under the hood the car was treated to an extensive makeover in which the firewall was smoothed over and the engine bay was painted in the same manner as the exterior, with two-tone DuPont Ivory and Cashmere with orange and burgundy pinstripes. Polished aluminum parts were sourced to brighten up the scene, including Billet Specialties hood hinges. The engine cover was dressed with body-color details and badging as well. The exterior is a blend of original style and modern concepts, with two-tone paint and unique pinstripe, and flip-top locking fuel-filler lid leading to a custom 18-gallon fuel tank by Rock Valley. Interior features include original-style bucket seats, a center console, door panels and carpeting that meet a dashboard tastefully modernized with a carbon-fiber appearance package and AutoMeter gauges. A Hurst shifter protrudes through the console roughly in the area of the built-in clock. It's equipped with power windows and a power trunk release, and halogen headlights and LED taillights add an extra degree of safety. Vintage Air keeps things cool, and the red upholstery contrasts against the goldish exterior tones.
